Orthodontic treatment can be successful at almost any age. In fact, about one in every five orthodontic patients is an adult. It's never too late to correct problems such as crooked or crowded teeth, overbites, underbites, or incorrect jaw position.

adult_couple.jpgMany adults were unable to get orthodontic treatment in their childhood for various reasons ~ perhaps their parents could not afford braces, or viewed them as less socially acceptable at that time.  Often, the way they have viewed their smile has been on their mind for many years. But now they are tired of waiting, and ready to begin treatment!

Other adults had braces when they were younger, but did not understand the importance of wearing their retainers to keep their teeth in position. Now they have experienced relapse, the natural tendency of teeth to return to their original position. They are unhappy with their smile, and seek out treatment.

The process involved in moving teeth is the same at any age, although adult treatment takes longer than a child's treatment. An adult's facial bones are no longer growing, and an adult's teeth need to be moved more slowly. Nevertheless, now is the time, don't wait any longer to get your healthy, beautiful smile!
